January 11, 2010, Allston/Brighton, MA – Allston-Brighton Arts Bridge, a community-based program providing free artistic and educational opportunities to the citizens of Allston-Brighton, has launched a new interactive website with the help of Boston University’s Center for Digital Imaging Arts (CDIA) Practicum Program. The new website at www.abartsbridge.org features a hip, modern design, multi-media video and animations, a calendar for upcoming events, and an interactive blog.

“As a small nonprofit, it is important for us to have a flexible website that also accurately expresses our mission,” said Kim Dawson, Executive Director of Arts Bridge. “The CDIA Practicum team of Jackie Sliwinski, Ryan Travis, and Mary Basilone listened carefully to what we wanted and created a great looking website that unquestionably represents who we are, but also allows us to easily update and add site content.”

The CDIA Practicum team’s main goals were to give the site a visual identity and to implement content management improvements that would ensure the new site would be a key resource for promoting, discovering, and sharing information about Arts Bridge. To accomplish these goals, and appeal to Arts Bridge’s core audience, the CDIA team introduced a multi-media video as well as several interactive flash animations to the site’s Home page. Additionally, the group utilized WordPress blogging software to improve functionality.

Founded in 2009, Allston-Brighton Arts Bridge’s mission is to bridge social, economic, and cultural divisions by offering free arts-based educational and training opportunities to the greater Allston-Brighton community. Arts Bridge partners with the Honan-Allston Branch Library and Brighton High and hopes to develop future partnerships with other area businesses and organizations. Arts Bridge’s long-range goal is to develop a permanent, free arts and learning center in the community.
